ABOUT HEATHER L. JOHNSON
Heather L. Johnson grew up moving from place to place, a process punctuated by dramatic cultural transitions: Hawaii to suburban Chicago; Rio Grande du Sol, Brazil to Heber City, Utah; Woking, Surrey, England to Houston, Texas.  These transitions inspired Johnson’s fascinations with movement, memory, identity and distance, and ultimately, her decision to become an artist.   In 2001, she earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in photography from the California College of Arts and Crafts in San Francisco, CA.  Since then, she has completed artist residencies at the McColl Center for Visual Art in Charlotte, NC, and at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC, and has shown her work around the U.S., in Europe and Japan.  Johnson has curated several exhibitions, including Cracks in the Pavement: Gifts in the Urban Landscape, an interactive project featuring site-specific works of art by international artists placed in public locations around the world.  She currently lives in Weehawken, NJ.
